Independence Pass is so awesome, it deserves it’s own blog post.  Stretching from Aspen to the mining town of Leadville, the Pass is a harrowing 75 mile two-lane road that cuts through mountains to reach the Continental Divide at 12,095 feet.  It’s only open for 5 months each year.  Since I am extremely afraid of heights, I spent most of the trip gripping my husband’s arm so hard I cut off his circulation.  There are two points when the road narrows to one lane~ I had to close my eyes and pray to keep myself from screaming!  The incredible views were worth every second of terror, thankfully.
